There’s nothing worse than a sinus headache - the pain is almost unbearable so finding some sinus headache relief is a priority for anyone suffering from this type of headache. If you think about what’s going on, it’s no wonder they are so painful.
Sinus headaches are caused by inflammation of the tissues inside your sinus passages. These are located behind your cheeks your nose in your eyes which is why the front of your face feels like was hit with a concrete block. Since your sinuses are in your cheeks it can also affect your teeth and make you feel like you have a major toothache.
To make matters worse, bending over even the slightest bit and sometimes even just walking can cause the pain to worsen. Luckily, there are quite a few things that one can do for sinus headache relief.
If you suffer from chronic sinusitis, one thing you can do is be sure that you get the proper nutrition including supplements for vitamins and minerals that will help keep sinusitis at bay. Herbs can also help to keep your sinuses in peak condition and some that have been suggested for use include Barbery and Echinacea.
If you are into herbal and home remedies, and there were a lot of different things you can try. Using a Neti pot can help keep your sinuses clean and can also get rid of a lot of the gunk in there when you do have a sinus infection, thus relieving some of the pressure. If you’ve never heard of a Neti pot before, it is plastic device that looks like a little watering can. You fill it with a solution and then pour it in one nostril. The solution goes up through all your sinus cavities on one side and out through all the sinus cavities on the other - it sounds and looks a little funny but I can tell you from experience it feels great!
Other things you can try include eating hot peppers like jalapeno peppers to clear out the nasal cavities, inhaling peppermint fumes or applying a ginger paste to you forehead. I’ve also found that putting a steaming hot cloth on the side of my face that seems to be affected can give me a little bit of temporary relief.
You can also find over-the-counter medications for sinus headache relief. Choose ones that included anti-inflammatory and decongestant with a good amount of Phenylephrine which you will probably have to go to the counter and get if they don’t sell these off the shelf anymore.
