More than 90% of men and 95% of women experience headaches which can range from mild to severe.  Aside from the mental exhaustion, these terrible headaches can even affect productivity, alter a person’s mood and can drain mental as well as physical energy. Luckily, we need not suffer in silence because there are many ways to prevent headaches.

The first thing you should do if you suffer from headaches is to make sure you get enough sleep. To achieve this, it is important to have a quiet place that is conducive for sleep. Turn off your cell phone and the lights. Don’t forget to use a soft pillow that you are comfortable with. Just getting enough sleep might go a long way in preventing headaches.

Another way to prevent headaches is to avoid using incense. This is because smoke from incense has a high level of alkaloids which affects the blood flow and triggers headache. In fact it is better to use steam because this helps keep back sinus headache by emptying the sinuses.

Plenty of water intake is good for the body because without sufficient water, the processes of the body is disrupted that may cause headaches. People who want to prevent headaches should have a healthy dose of water intake, 8 glasses a day would do.

A couple of nice, cucumber slices can help sooth the muscles around the eyes. What you have to do for this treatment is simply close your eyes then place the cucumber slices on your eyelids. This is not only refreshing but also helps release the tension on the eye muscles.

These are just a few tips on how to prevent headaches. There are more ways than one on how you can avoid the annoying headaches but doing these tips will help control the headaches.
