New Treatment for Headache Sufferers
October 29, 2008 by admin
A headache is annoying and something that all human beings have experienced in their lifetime. Since a headache can drain you mentally and physically, it is not wonder why headache treatment is universal.
Here are some of the treatments that you might consider the next time you feel a headache coming on:
There are oral as well as intranasal medications such as Sumatriptan that will be available by this year, 2008 or the coming year. Inhalation devices which require heat to turn drugs into vapor which is delivered directly to the lungs then passes into the bloodstream can give relief within a minute’s time. This device is not yet available to the public but it is currently undergoing some clinical tests with the use of prochlorperazine as the drug of choice
A skin patch has also been considered as a treatment for headache. The patch is transdermal by nature and contains an electronic controller with the right dose of medications. This is still in trial using the drug, zolmitriptan.
Meanwhile, dihydroergotamine in powder form is being researched and tried as a nasal spray treatment for headaches. The powder form of this drug has been found to be easier and faster absorbed hence relief manifests rapidly after inhalation of the nasal spray.
Drug combinations have also been shown to provide speedy relief from headache as opposed to the effects of using medications individually. An example of a drug combination that can be used for headache relief is the mixture of naproxen and sumatriptan.
